Bio:

Ms. Reem is a highly accomplished researcher with a promising career. From 2014 to the present, she has held a number of positions, including her current role as a lecturer at Khartoum University, as well as previous positions as a researcher at the National Center for Research, an associate researcher for USAID for Development at the Ministry of Finance in Sudan, and a consultant for the Ministry of Finance through Overseas Development Institute ODI the independent and global think tank. Due to political events, her consulting and research work in government departments were disrupted, but her academic work has continued. The subject of her master’s thesis was “Determinants of Under-Five Mortality in Sudan: Evidence from Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys,” and it was supervised by Dr. Siddig Mohamed Ahmed Shaheen. The objective of the research was to assess the level of under-five mortality in Sudan in 2014 and investigate the main factors behind it. The results indicated that the mother’s age, mother’s education, breastfeeding, and type of delivery are the main determinants of mortality for children under the age of five.
