Bio:
Economist Dr. Alfateh’s is a consultant, researcher, university professor, and author, and it is difficult for us to limit him to a brief bio. He has worked in a number of African countries, such as Zambia and South Africa, where he held the position of Division Manager in the country department, Southern Region, and served as a Country Program Officer and Chief Economist in the southern region during the period (1993-2001) at African Development Bank (AfDB). Then Country Resident Representative in Ethiopia, and the Country Program Manager (2001-2006) and that was before he served as Lead Economist in Regional Departments where he worked as Lead Country Economist for Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia for the period from 2006 to 2010.
In addition to his work with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) as a consultant and Economist in the Operations Department, the period from 2010 to 2013.
Furthermore, he conducted or participated in studies and reports for the benefit of international organizations such as UNDP, FAO, and CARE Sudan, and prepared a draft of the Golden Book for the African Development Bank on the institutional history of the Bank in 2014.
He contributed to a variety of feasibility studies for policy-based loans, poverty reduction projects, financial sector support, capacity-building projects, and other sector projects while working in the AfDB.
He has had experience in the preparation of project completion reports and evaluation of the implementation of the AfDB country strategies. Also, familiar with the evaluation of the sector and program works of the AfDB.
Contributed to a variety of feasibility studies for infrastructure, education, and health while working in BADEA.
Co-authored a study on ‘Trade Flows and Financial Structure for North Africa and Trade between North Africa and the rest of Africa’ as input for the feasibility study of the AFREXIMBANK.
Dr. Al-Fateh is a specialized lecturer, brilliant speaker, expert researcher, and a perfect planner and implementer on topics like Public-Private Partnerships PPPs, Cross Border Initiatives, Economic Integration, International Governance, Microeconomics, Microfinance, and Policy-Based Lending.
In addition, he edited a book entitled ‘Evolution of Agrarian Relations in the Sudan‘ (Ed.) Ithaca Press, London, 1987, and he has also authored and co-authored a number of published papers and reviews.
